Objectives of The Ethiopian Society of Winnipeg

The Ethiopian Society of Winnipeg was formed on December 17,1984. It is a non-profit organization working closely with other like-minded community organizations and the three levels of the Canadian Government.

The main objectives of the Society are to:

*Assist to organize Ethiopians in Winnipeg;

*Facilitate liaison between members and other government and community organizations;

*Ensure the well-being of its members;

*Encourage Ethiopians to play an active role in the multi-cultural Canadian society;

*Teach Canadian children of Ethiopian origin the history, the cultures and the languages of Ethiopia and integrate them into the mainstream;

*Cooperate and develop good working relations with organizations of similar objectives;

*Assist new-comers to settle in Winnipeg;

*Produce a periodic newsletter reflecting the objectives of the Society.
